In my training cohorts, there were so many of us who were 

yearning for spiritual connections, but 

still hesitant to know how to fully “believe” any of what was happening. 

When I stepped into the role of teacher and practitioner, I promised myself I would always start with this problem, rather than brush it off. 

When we do spiritual work such as shamanic journeying or visiting the Otherworld, divination, connecting with the consciousness of nature spirits, ancestors, and deities, we need to have a foundational cosmology that explains what we are doing if we are to genuinely trust that what we are doing is real.
